Anamnesis (NOT Amnesia)

Anamnesis is another word for medical history.

Deglutition is another way of saying swallowing.

And micturition is the technical term for peeing.

I swear we can obscure anything in medicine all in an attempt to sound erudite (because we all know we are definitely not cool).

I'm studying for my block 7 final exam tomorrow. Tips for talking to clients-- avoid using medical jargon.

While on the subject of medical history-- here's a sample from our lecture:

• Any C/S/V/D/PU/PD/PP/Seizures?

What this stands for is: Any coughing/sneezing/vomiting/diarrhea/polyuria/polydipsia/polyphagia/seizures?

Because if we can't come up with big words, we can still confuse you with our endless abbreviations!
